Expiry Dates

If medicines and food items become dangerous to consume after their expiry dates, shouldn't pesticides become more powerful after their expiry dates?

  1. Pesticides become less powerful after their expiry date and their effects may also change, some more harmful.

  2. joking apart: this is a good observation to start a lesson on effective abstraction of real world situation. The right abstraction (which exists in this case) would handle both food and pesticides, the wrong abstraction would force some ugly special cases for each.
